I AM

PABLO

ZEQUEIRA

Whenever I look at someone’s art work I do what everyone else does. Admire it. Superficially, just looking at the lines and curves, the use of colors and composition already predisposed at liking something, after all I made the trip willing to a gallery or exhibition. Why wouldn’t I like it? Subconsciously I am already having hand held by the artists and the little box of text to the side telling me what the artist is trying to convey through his use of pastels and canvas.

INK is not that.

Instead of asking “what does it mean?” I ask myself “How would someone hang this up on their wall?” Or “What will people see in this INK?”

The answers have been my favorite part of this collection, someone said to me “that is a jelly fish.” A child of 5 said “that is a horse” a grown woman said “a spinal column or the nervous system” my favorite was “that looks like a cockroach.”

A metamorphosis in ink and the water used to spread the ink is equally important, some of it came from the Baltic, Florida and good ol New York tap water.
